KOINOS
Would you like to help deepen your relationship with Jesus? Would you like to see others know him more intimately? Jesus himself transforms us, but we can put ourselves in places where His Spirit has more freedom to draw us toward God. The following seminars (individually or in a series of your choosing) seek to help participants open themselves more fully to Jesus. Would you like to see dates on which the following seminars are currently being offered? Would
you like to see books KOINOS staff members
recommend to accompany each of these seminars? This
introduction to spiritual formation focuses on intentionally choosing to live a
life that is moving toward Christlikeness. Come learn what distinctively
Christian spirituality has meant through the ages and the value of many
forgotten spiritual practices. II. Prayer: Communing with God How is communing with God different from
how I already pray? How would I like to pray?
From the wisdom of our Christian forbears, learn time-honored ways
of enriching your prayer life and deepening your relationship with the
Lord. Practice attentiveness and
awareness of God in everyday life. III. Discernment: Knowing God’s Will or Knowing God? What
does God want for my life? For what unique purpose was I created? How do I know
I am pleasing God? Discernment is
not about getting answers from God but arises out of knowing God so well that
you know God’s heart. Learn to listen to God’s voice through prayer and
through the Word. Learn discernment techniques (from St. Ignatius) and practice
them with supportive and prayerful companions. IV. Silence, Solitude and Sabbath as Spiritual Living Make
a date with your Lord by blocking out this two day retreat. Allow
yourself to sink into deep fellowship with the Lord without the distractions of
normal life. Learn how to make silence
and mini-retreats a part of your spiritual life. Allow silence and solitude to
heal you and deepen your awareness of God’s presence all around you. V. Finding Deep Community in Small Groups VI.
Hearing God: Shaped by the Word God’s
Word is the single most formative resource available to us.
So why do we put off reading the Bible? Learn fresh ways of hearing and
perceiving Scripture. Sink deeply into the Word and allow God speak to you and
form you. Stop striving and let the Word of God shape you. VII. Creativity and Spirituality What is an art journal? How do we give spiritual expression to our creative selves? How can we marry our creativity with our devotional lives? Enjoy again the simple pleasures of artistic expressions in drawing, painting, dance, storytelling, literature and art journaling. Discover a new entrance into your deep self and your relationship with your God. VII. Finding Joy in Simplifying Your Lifestyle "What do you really want?" Do you want lots of things and a busy schedule, or would you prefer the true joy that comes from following Jesus in a simpler lifestyle. No, you don't have to give up your house and car to move into a monastic cell. But you can find greater satisfaction by living according to appropriate priorities. For practical suggestions, participate in this seminar. 'Providing sacred space for God encounters' |
